Can you imagine how the life was in 1986 without Smartphones, Internet, Facebook, Gmail, Google, and DVD PLAYER?
It might be possible that many of you were not come to this world by 1986; even I was just 5 year old in 1986. Would you like to go into 1986 and want to see how the life was at that time without your smart gadgets?
Meet Blair McMillan and his girlfriend Morgan Patey, a couple in Guelph, Ontario in Canada. They decided to live their lives without all types of technology that were created after the year 1986.
Now your first question is why after 1986 only?
So answer is simple; McMillan and his girlfriend chose 1986 because that was the year they were born.
Now next question in your mind is why they decided to do so?
Well, According to McMillan, He and his girlfriend with two kids (five and two years old) were so much busy with internet, laptops, smartphones and video games that they hardly talk to each other and their kids were more interested in playing PSP and video games than outdoor games.
That was loosening up the bonding among the family members so decided to live a life without internet and smart gadgets to bring family members closer and for strong family bonding.
They want to motivate their kids to involve in outdoor games and feel the era of 80’s.
You won’t believe but McMillan and family is not using any cell phone, Cable TV, DVD, MP3 player, Internet and not any gadget that invented after 1986. Even they are not using any answering machine.
Wow moment of 1986
- Family is watching movies on VCR (McMillan mentioned that they got many VCD’s from their family and friends).
- They are using a rotary phone instead of touch phone.
- They are using old Tape recorders to listen music.
- Even when they went for a trip then they used a paper map for navigation.
McMillan mentioned that he and his family is enjoying this change specially their kids. McMillan started this ‘life changing step’ as a project in April 2013 and they have decided to keep it continue for one year April 2014.
McMillan is planning to make a documentary or will write a book on this whole awesome experience.
