Mohabbatein is one of my favorite movies, fully dedicated to love. In this movie, a teacher “Raj” works to spread the rays of love in the whole Gurukul going against the principal of that college and its traditions being run from many years and he finally gets succeed in melting the heart of the Principal also.
Highlights of the Film: Feelings of 3 lovers (students of Gurukul), which force them to go against the disciplinary rules of Gurukul and make their love a grand success along with the immortal love of Shahrukh (Raj) and Aishwarya (Megha).
Jab We Met
One of the best contemporary romantic movie directed by Imtiaz Ali. The story revolves about a carefree girl “Geet” who uses a guy (she met in a train) to run away from her house to marry her lover, the lover however refused to marry her and the girl falls for the guy who helped her to run away.
Highlight of the film: The chemistry between Shahid Kapur and Karina Kapur. It is said that they broke up during this film but the movie shows no such signs and the film rides on their blissful chemistry and crispy dialogues.
Love Aaj Kal
Another of Imtiaz Ali’s romantic sagas. You can’t help but admire the fresh take he gives to age old romance stories. The story follows two stories parallel, one set in 19th century and the other one in 21st. The story focuses on the changes in the ways of love b/w the two eras. The commitment of old age and the confusion of the new age is beautifully conceptualized.
Highlight of the film : The transitions b/w the one era and the other, Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of the Sardar Veer Singh, the dialogues (as usual) and Rishi Kapoor’s short reminisces.
The best love saga you will ever notice with the indo-pak rivalry as backdrop. An army major falls in love with a Pakistani girl while rescuing her in an operation, the romance intensifies when the girl spend some days with his loving parents, but the girl is already engaged and has to return to Pakistan, the boy admit his love but the girl went away. He followed her to Pakistan and was sent to jail with the charges of forgery and was made to sign as a detective so that the girl’s marriage could be saved. The boy remained silent for 22 years until one fine day a lawyer tried to re-open the case and throw light on the truth.
Highlights of the film: It’s a Yash Chopra classic, had all elements of a typical Bollywood film, Shahrukh’s great acting and some great music.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
The movie that made Shahrukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, and the plot combines two love triangles set years apart. The first half covers friends on a college campus, while the second tells the story of a widower’s young daughter who tries to reunite her dad with his old friend. It was the directorial debut of Karan Johar and received an iconic status in India.
Highlights of The Film: Sets a new level of style in Indian Cinema, beautiful locations, one of the few films in which Shahrukh and Salman has acted together.
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
It is again a classical from Shahrukh Khan. It was released in 1995, and it is a romantic comedy musical film. In this movie, a young couple falls in love on a tour to Europe and then boys have to make too many efforts to agree to the parents of the girl to allow them to marry.
Highlights of the film: Shahrukh and Kajol are christened as best pair of Bollywood, celebrated 600 weeks of continuous running, beautiful screenplay, locations and music.
Dil Chahta Hai
This movie is about 3 childhood friends. They fall in love after their college. One of them does not believe in love earlier, one tries to find out his true love in every girl, he is attracted towards and the third one is more matured and dedicated to his work.
Highlights of the Film: It was the first film written and directed by Farhan Akhtar. In 2001, this movie won the National Film award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
In Fanna movie, the boy (Amir Khan) is basically a terrorist who falls in love with a girl (Kajol), who is blind. Girl also started loving her without knowing his actual background and finally the boy is died by the girl.
Highlights of the Film: This movie was banned in Gujarat due to protests against Amir Khan. The concept of the film is taken from an English movie “Eye of the Needle”.
Kal Ho Na Ho
Probably one of the best example of ShahRukh’s acting skills, the karan johar produced tragic love story (another love triangle) touched the right chords immediately. The depiction of a topic as serious as Death in a light and warm manner makes the movie classify among the classics like Anand.
Highlights of the film: Great chemistry b/w Shahrukh, Preity, Saif delivered his best performance until that time and the story always take the movie forward on its shoulder.
Namastey London is a romantic comedy film which shows the love between two Indians, boy (Akshay Kumar) belonging to India and the girl (Katrina Kaif) who grown up in foreign countries. The girl usually hated the Indian traditions and love foreign traditions and hence hated the boy too initially which finally turned into a lovely love story.
Highlights of the Film: This film earned a reward of the Filmfare award for Best Actor for Akshay Kumar. This film also created controversies due to public kissing scene and alcohol abuse.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Indian romantic comedy film, in which a boy changed himself to get the love of his own wife Taani (Anushka Sharma). He transformed himself into Raj from Surinder Sahani and won her love in dance classes. After that he tells her the truth.
Highlights of the Film: This film was directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films. This debutant movie of Anushka Sharma with Bollywood super star Shahrukh Khan helped her to prove herself in her initial stages of bollywood.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam (K3G) is a multi-starrer drama film. In this film, the elder son of Amitabh Bachchan leaves home and settles outside India because his father did not allow him to marry with a poor girl. Then his younger brother (Hrithik Roshan) takes the responsibility to bring his whole family together.
Highlights of the Film: This film was written by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar. It was the first indian film to be given a theatrical release in Germany.
Dil To Pagal Hai
Rahul organizes a dance group and Nisha is female star member of this group with Rahul. She loves Rahul but Rahul falls in love with another girl named as Pooja, who was also a good dancer. Rahul’s love forces her to join the dance group in the absence of Nisha.
Highlights of the Film: It was second biggest hit of 1997 directed by Yash Chopra. In this movie Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapur are in lead roles and Akshay Kumar acts as a supporting actor.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun
It is an Indian musical romantic comedy film, which tells the story of two families. In this movie 2 old friends decides to make their friendship into a relation and they make their elder son of one to marry the elder daughter of another. The younger brother of the broom falls in love with younger sister of her sister-in-law. But, accidently the elder sister dies due to slipping from stairs and it is decided to marry the younger sister to the elder brother again to take care of the child. Finally, the truth is revealed and both the lovers get married happily.
Highlights of the Film: This movie was one of the biggest blockbuster movies which won 5 Filmfare awards and National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesale Entertainment. Lead roles are played by Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit in this movie.
